Cleanse: Day 16

Spring is coming! Only 4 days until spring, and 5 until completing the cleanse. I feel great!

Smoothie: There’s something about fresh ginger that makes me all toasty and warm inside no matter what the weather is like. I’m really liking the ginger and cinnamon combination these days.

papaya ginger smoothie

Papaya Ginger Smoothie
(makes 2 servings)
1 cup coconut water
4 scoops SP Complete (Dairy-Free)
2 scoops Whole Food Fiber
1 ripe banana
1 cup ripe papaya
1 inch section of ginger, diced
1 tsp cinnamon (or to taste)
1 tsp lemon juice
1 cup water

Blend and enjoy!

Lunch: Wild Ginger again. The hot gazpacho soup was so satisfying. I couldn’t not have the miso eggplant and the steamed dark leafy greens.. It all sounded so good. I’m stuffed.

A few people have asked me if I’m able to have a social life during the cleanse. It was a little difficult in the beginning because I hadn’t expected to eat out so much, but I found that if I told my friends I was doing the cleanse and suggested a restaurant, it made all the difference. I went for places that had healthy options for me as well as a variety of food and alcohol for everyone else.

I had acupuncture after lunch, and then met up with friends. One of them had a flight to catch so we went to Galanga in Greenwich Village for an early dinner. I was still stuffed from lunch so I had a small soup while the others had beer and food.

Dinner: Sometimes, even with the best of intentions, communication and the most careful planning, you may come across some situations that are difficult to you navigate. I came home to a dinner party, friends and this plate already made.

What else could I do but enjoy the food and the company? It was delicious, but I’m definitely feeling it.
